5th January – LA FARFALLA D’ORO (the golden butterfly)

A musical competition for young singers held by the "Gruppocinque" band, since 1991. The last performance takes place on 5th January every year.

 

6th January – THE OLD WITCHES IN THE SQUARE

To celebrate Epiphany, a party for children is held in Piazza del Popolo where some old witches dressed in costume give out sweets and gifts to the children.

Half Lent - The Night Of the " M’ rett"

A musical and cabaret show that takes place in half Lent and held by the local association “Pro Loco” in order to award the masked groups of the Carnival. The name “m’rett” derives from the traditional mask that covers the eyes.

Good Friday – THE DEAD CHRIST PROCESSION

It takes place the evening of Good Friday and is related to an ancient tradition of medieval brotherhoods; it is so called since the Coffin with the Dead Christ is walked in procession along the streets of the town centre. It is kept inside the church of the Addolorata (Our Lady of Sorrows).

3rd May – THE FEAST OF THE HOLY CROSS

Celebrated on 3rd May in memory of the Eucharistic Miracle occurred in Lanciano, a town in the Abruzzi in 1273. The relics are still preserved in the chapel inside the church of S. Agostino.

Every Friday of July and August – THE SUMMER FRIDAYS

A fair held by the Oikos cooperative with the participation of Offida Municipality. It takes place in the town centre every Friday of July and August. On these days you can find either local handicrafts and those from other regions, gift and fancy goods, collecting, antiques as well as wine and food specialities; it takes place in the splendid setting of Piazza del Popolo and the Town Hall.

August - IL FUSELLO D’ORO (The Golden Spindle)

It is a competition for lace makers held since 1999. Every year, the lace- makers are given a theme on which they make their laces. Among the themes of the last competitions “the Handkerchief” (1999), “the Jubilee” (2000), “In my garden” (2001), “In the world of music” (2002), “the Fan” (2003), “a mask on the face” (2004) are worthy of notice.

First Sunday of August – THE CHICHI' RIPIENO FESTIVAL

This festival has a long tradition devoted to the Chichě, a typical product of Offida cuisine. The festival takes place the first Sunday of August in Piazza del Popolo.

Last week of August – THE MUTTON AND STROZZAPRETI FESTIVAL

This festival takes place the last week of August at Borgo Miriam, a district near Offida. There, you can taste the strozzapreti seasoned with tomato sauce and mutton-stew.

23rd August – FEAST OF THE BEATO BERNARDO

It takes place every year on 23rd August in the Cappuccini district. The feast programme includes either solemn and civil ceremonies.

First week of September - FROM WINE TO WINE

Over the last few years Vinea association, with the cooperation of Slow Food, has held a festival in order to promote either local wine and food and products from other regions. In four days you can taste wines, cheese, bread and local products, with the help of connoisseurs that, during wine and food-tasting sessions, suggest the best combinations between wine and food.

22nd November – CONCERT OF SANTA CECILIA

To celebrate Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of musicians, a concert of the Town Band is held inside the church of the Suffragio, often used as concert hall.
